The authers report 3 cases of butane gas abuse with the review of literature. The background of abusive behavior were inferiority complex. Loneliness. Conflicts between parents and their inattention, broken family. Poor sohool performance and
heterosexual problems. As inhalation became frequent, hallucinatory experiences became the main direct cause of inhalation. The tolerance developed early, and intoxication did not seem to cause any specific form of hallucination or psychotic
symptoms
but it tend to result in frequent destructive acting out. Withdrawl symtpoms appeared 1~2 days after cessation of abuse and included headache, general aches, dizziness. Choking and psychosis-like symptoms. During the admittion, all cases improved
without particular pharmachotherapy. The were not followed-up against medical advice.
